Freeview+ PVR automatic updates
Please Note: Freeview+ software updates do not apply to a satellite freesat dish installation The industry is aware that a small number of Freeview+ PVR digiboxes will be occasionally locking up after the national re-tune day and where various Digital Switchovers have already occurred. The industry was unaware of such changes which were needed to improve your service. The hardware is not at fault. The industry has been quick to respond. When these problems were bought to the attention of Humax. Humax arranged for their senior engineers to visit from Korea, by working along side the various broadcasters, Humax have developed over the air software updates that correct these issues.Humax have already commenced broadcasting these updates for PVR9150T and PVR9300T (series) products and hope to be broadcasting the same for PVR9200T (series) products in the coming weeks. • Although the number of reported cases of this issue is small, if Humax customers do experience this issue Humax advises them to leave their box in standby mode at night (not on, or powered off) during the transmission period for the updates and they will receive them automatically. When turning the box back on from standby the update will be installed by following the simple on screen instructions. If any consumers feel that they may have missed one of the updates, fear not, as they will be repeated regularly. Freesat installation - Humax and the Digital Switchover (DSO) "Digital Switchover" (DSO) is a government roll out plan to bring digital TV services to UK TV viewers. The roll out plan started last year and will continue through to 2012. This project will see the "turning off" of analogue TV services in the UK and these services being replaced with an enhanced Digital TV service (Freeview and freesat). If you are aHumax Freeview+ user, you already have a "DSO" compliant unit and are already using digital TV services so you have no need to replace your equipment. That said the DSO could have side effects for current users of digital appliances, as the broadcasters are also using this transition as an opportunity to make changes to transmitters to increase the availability and quality of the digital TV experience.
Fear not... The majority of Humax users with a professional Freeview or freesat installation will have nothing more to do other than an automatic retune or a default setting at the appropriate time, and the small percentage of users who encounter more complex issues due to their geography will find we have enhanced our support offerings to deliver either online, by email or by telephone, timely remedies for whatever issues may arise. Let me reiterate that 99.9% of all customers with Freeview or freesat Humax equipment will be able to migrate through the digital switchover without the need for any hardware or software upgrade, and will only need to perform a simple reconfiguration procedure on their unit. NOTE: Humax Freesat installation users are unaffected by the DSO as it is only viewers who receive their TV signal via an aerial that may have this issue.
